There are two common reasons for the VXI initialization failure on the E985xA: 1) Someone ran NI-SPY. NI-SPY installs an alternative copy of nivxint.dll that is incompatible with the E985xA. To fix this, go to the C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 directory, and look for a subdirectory called "32" (C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\32). If you have run NI-SPY, the original DLL is copied here. Copy this subdirectory's copy back up into the SYSTEM32 directory (copy C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\32\nivxint.dll C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32). 2) The VXI backplane interface chip's hardware configuration (stored in NVRAM) got corrupted. To fix this, run T&M Explorer, expand the "VXI Frame 0" category in the navigation window, right click on the "Device 0" interface and select "Hardware Configuration". On this screen, set the hardware configuration to "Default", close and reboot. After the reboot, you may need to go back into T&M Explorer and reset up your IRQ configuration and/or other parameters as required. If these don't fix the problem, contact factory support.
